China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has urged domestic manufacturers of electric mopeds and scooters to integrate the BeiDou high-precision satellite positioning system into their products. This initiative aims to enhance the technological advancement and efficiency of these vehicles.

The ministry emphasized the importance of electric bicycle producers increasing their investment in research and development. The goal is to create products that are lightweight, intelligent, and networked, enhancing their appeal and utility to consumers.

As a leading producer and consumer of electric mopeds and scooters, with over 350 million such vehicles in use, China recognizes the significant role these play in the domestic transportation ecosystem. Yet, the industry faces challenges such as low industrial concentration and limited innovative capabilities, which the government is keen to address.

To improve the overall quality and safety of electric vehicles, the ministry is also calling for enhancements in the manufacturing, sales, usage, and charging processes, as well as in the recycling of old vehicles.
