Trimble Introduces Juno Series Of Economical GPS Handhelds
Sunnyvale CA (SPX) Dec 03, 2008 Trimble has introduced its next generation of durable, lightweight field computing devices with integrated Global Positioning System (GPS) technology - the new Trimble Juno(TM) SB and Juno SC handhelds. These pocket-sized devices are packed with features and functionality. In addition to integrated GPS, both models include wireless LAN (WLAN) and Bluetooth connectivity, a 3 Megapixel camera, a 533 MHz processor, 128 MB of onboard memory, a MicroSD/SDHC memory card slot, an all-day battery and a 3.5 inch display. "The Juno series handhelds are the ideal solution for GIS-enabled organizations that require high productivity from their mobile field workforce," said Peter Large, general manager of Trimble's Mapping and GIS Division. The Juno series handhelds incorporate a high-sensitivity GPS receiver, specifically designed to maximize position yields in challenging GPS environments, such as under forest canopy and near buildings in urban areas. Both can achieve 2 to 5 meter GPS positioning accuracy postprocessed or in real-time with Satellite Based Augmentation Systems (SBAS) such as the U.S. Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS), European Geostationary Navigation Overlay System (EGNOS), and Japan's Multi-Functional Satellite Augmentation System (MSAS). For organizations wishing to equip field workers with high-speed Internet connectivity worldwide, the Juno SC handheld includes a 3.5G High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) broadband cellular modem. The data transmission capabilities of the Juno SC enable field workers to access email and download large files and maps without making a trip to the office. Mobile workers can access and update mission critical information in real time, increasing overall data accuracy and productivity. Powered by the industry-leading Microsoft Windows Mobile version 6.1 operating system, users have access to personal productivity tools such as Word Mobile, Excel Mobile, Internet Explorer Mobile, and Outlook Mobile, allowing a seamless exchange of data between the field and office. The Juno series is also available in 10 languages for worldwide users and is fully compatible with Trimble's range of Mapping and GIS field and office software. A range of optional accessories complement the Juno series handhelds. The OtterBox Defender Series case provides additional protection through a hi- impact hard polycarbonate shell wrapped in a silicone skin for absorbing bumps and shock. The vehicle mount, in conjunction with Trimble's TerraSync(TM) field software and popular CoPilot Professional navigation software, provides a complete and productive in-car navigation and data collection solution. The Trimble Juno series is now available through Trimble's Mapping and GIS distribution channel. Related Links Trimble GPS Applications, Technology and Suppliers
