Trapster Integrates Its iPhone App with Facebook and Twitter
San Diego CA (SPX) May 13, 2009 Trapster has just released version 2.4 of their iPhone app. The updated application includes Facebook Connect for the iPhone, Twitter integration, and multi-language support. Trapster iPhone users can now view the Trapmap and listen to trap notifications in the language of their preference, and automatically post the speed traps and road trips they create to their Facebook wall or Twitter feed. By using OAuth for Twitter, and Facebook Connect, Trapster safely integrates with social sites for real-time sharing without requiring users to hand over their login credentials. Users can now automatically feed their new traps or trips to Twitter and Facebook. Tweets include geocode data and a link to view the trap or trip on a map, while wall posts include trap or trip information, map view, a link to the actual trap or trip, and support comments and likes. Trapster's founder, Pete Tenereillo, says, "Helping friends avoid unnecessary tickets is a natural behavior, but we thought we could better support those inclinations with crowd-sourced data and real-time alerts via Twitter and Facebook. People are using social media to alert their network of speed traps on the go, so we're just making the process immediate, rich with data, and safer." With over 40 percent of Trapster's audience being outside the US, the company is also excited to now cater to Spanish, French, and German language users of the iPhone application. The application will automatically launch with the appropriate fully-translated version, based on the phone's language settings. Plus, in an effort to meet the demands of socially savvy users, Trapster now supports finding and adding traps via Twitter. Users can follow @mytraps and send a direct message with a zip code to get the most recent trap created in that area, along with a link to view all speed traps on map. On the flip side, users can also report a new live police trap by DMing @mytraps with the speed trap location. Share This Article With Planet Earth
