Multiplied Media Launches Poynt Local Search App In Germany
Calgary, Canada (SPX) Jun 01, 2009 Multiplied Media has announced the launch of its award-winning Poynt local search application for BlackBerry smartphones in Germany. Multiplied has been working with SEARCHTEQ GmbH (formerly t-info), a joint venture between Deutsche Telekom Medien GmbH (DeTeMedien) and directory publishers in Germany, to develop its Poynt application for the German market. Poynt is a convenient and timesaving service that connects consumers to local businesses and theaters at the moment they want to buy or acquire products or services. By entering search terms, the consumer is able to find businesses and movies near their location, get phone and address information as well as additional enhanced features such as accessing movie reviews and trailers. For example, a Poynt user could locate themselves via the GPS on their smartphone, then search for businesses such as a car rental agency, hairdressers, hotels or attorneys. Results are sorted by distance and the user has the option to view directions on a map, click-to-call the business, or view their website. Through SEARCHTEQ, Poynt utilizes data from suchen.de to provide business listing results while movie results are provided by kino.de. "We are extremely pleased to be launching Poynt in Germany," said Andrew Osis, CEO, Multiplied Media. "We hope German consumers find the application compelling and look forward to receiving their feedback and suggestions. Listening to and acting on the suggestions of our users is a key tenet of our company and has contributed to Poynt's success to date." "The addition of suchen.de content to Poynt for BlackBerry smartphones provides tremendous exposure for our large base of local advertisers," said Andreas Arndt, Managing Director of SEARCHTEQ. "We believe it is important to deliver our advertisers' content to consumers whenever and wherever they are searching for it." Poynt is available for BlackBerry smartphone users in Germany and includes the following features: + Language support - Poynt is available with full German language support. + Cell-site locates - Cell-site locates allow Poynt to quickly access a user's general location while awaiting a GPS lock. + GPS - the GPS functionality has been optimized to provide faster accurate locates. + Enhanced User Interface - Poynt's UI was developed specifically for BlackBerry smartphones to provide users with an immersive, easy-to- use and visually appealing experience. + Mapping Integration - Poynt is fully integrated with both BlackBerry Maps and Google Maps. + Address Book Integration - Users can add frequently accessed listings to their BlackBerry Address Book, providing convenience for future lookups. + Share Search Results - Integration with BlackBerry Email allows users to easily share listings with friends and colleagues. + Movie Module - Users can plan their night at the movies by seeing what is playing near them, watching trailers, viewing showtimes and reading reviews, cast and synopsis details. + Theater Details - Users can get information on seating layouts, wheelchair accessibility and number of screens. + Add to Calendar Option - Users have the ability to add movie search results to their BlackBerry Calendar by date and showtime, as well as invite friends to join them.
