Eventful has announced partnerships with three leading mobile application providers that are developing location-based service offerings leveraging Eventful's microtargeted event data.

Earthcomber, Loopt and uLocate are enhancing their existing suites of mobile applications by incorporating Eventful's data into their software to enable users to discover local event listings automatically tailored to users' current location.

Coming two weeks after Sprint announced it would feature Eventful's location-based listings on its XOHMTM WiMAX mobile broadband service, this latest announcement solidifies Eventful's position as the leading provider of local events information to consumers, Web sites, publishers and mobile application providers.

"Effortlessly finding events of interest near you is key to what we call 'Geobrowsing,'" said Rick Robinson, VP of Services for XOHM.

"Eventful is helping us build a novel platform on which this will come to life. We actually see location as the 'new presence,' the confluence of context, relevance and location will bear this out on XOHM."

Eventful provides its user community with multi-channel access to the world's largest selection of local events through its Web site (Eventful.com), email programs, an iPhone application and social-networking applications.

In addition, Eventful has a fast-growing business syndicating its technology platform and event content to wireless and online service providers. Over 1,200 API developers and content providers leverage Eventful's data and platform, including the Los Angeles Times, local news community Topix and Ripple TV, which displays advertising and local news in more than 1,500 locations across the United States.

Eventful's partnerships with wireless location-based service providers put it on the leading edge of a fast-growing trend. A recent Gartner report1 predicts that location awareness will become a mainstream feature of mobile applications within two to five years and that the market will grow from 16 million users in 2007 to 43.2 million in 2008 and 300 million by 2011.

It estimates that revenues from location services will grow from $485.1 million in 2007 to more than $8 billion in 2011.

"GPS integration transforms the mobile phone into a powerful tool for finding out about the world around you, creating a demand for location-based content that Eventful is uniquely positioned to fulfill," said Jordan Glazier, CEO, Eventful.

"Eventful's powerful syndication platform and its selection of millions of local events worldwide make it a natural partner for companies that want to give their users access to information that reflects both their interests and their location at any given moment."

Earthcomber
Earthcomber is a "personal radar" application for mobile users. It employs patented search technology to constantly scan the user's surroundings and serve up information about people, places and things nearby that match the user's preferences. Earthcomber uses Eventful as a core component to deliver a constant stream of event-based content to its users.

Loopt
Loopt is an interoperable social-mapping service that is available across multiple carrier networks and is supported on over 80 mobile devices. Loopt uses location-based technology to connect users with the world around them, allowing them to find each other on the go and instantly share photos and comments with friends and communities like Facebook and Twitter.

Loopt also makes it easy to discover and explore nearby places and events recommended by friends and popular local services such as Yelp and, later this year, Eventful.

"Loopt already helps users connect with their friends. Now, through this partnership with Eventful, Loopt users will have the power to discover things to do that are happening around them," said Evan Tana, director of product management and marketing of Loopt.

"Incorporation of Eventful information along with other leading local content like Yelp makes Loopt a one-stop shop to find your friends, get recommendations, and discover new things to do."

Sprint
Sprint's XOHM WiMAX high-speed mobile data network, which will debut commercially in Baltimore this September, will feature unique location and personalization capabilities to customize information for the user at home, at work or places in between.

At launch, an XOHM portal will offer location-based content from leading brands including Eventful, which will provide users with local event listings displayed in a map view. Customers will be able to select sub-categories of interest, search for events and click through to Eventful.com to get more event information and purchase tickets.

WHERE
WHERE, a service of uLocate Communications, connects consumers with people, places and things through the power of location. Whether finding friends in a crowded city, locating the lowest gas prices, satisfying a craving for a latte or scoring tickets to a local show, the award-winning location-based application gives users access to the world's most comprehensive set of location-based widgets.

Each of WHERE's widgets delivers content based on the user's current location and provides the ability to show this content on a map, and get directions all while exploring and sharing interests with friends. Whatever your pursuits, WHERE delivers the best in local information.

"Eventful has been available on our platform for over a year, it's a great compliment to the over 70 innovative widgets we have in WHERE," said Dan Gilmartin, vice president of marketing, uLocate Communications.

"The WHERE Eventful widget empowers users to quickly and easily find nearby happenings, including concerts, sporting events and more from their mobile device, and then easily connect with their friends through Buddy Beacon."
