Gearworks has announced the release of etrace 6.0, a new version of its powerful wireless and Web-based mobile workforce management solution that enables enterprises to supervise and optimize their personnel and activities in the field as easily as they do in the office. etrace is available from Sprint with several devices that operate on the Nationwide Sprint Network and Nextel National Network.

etrace 6.0 uses GPS to automate supervision of field-based workforces carrying a variety of Sprint phones, including those with the Nextel Direct Connect capability. The new release allows businesses to configure etrace to match the way they work, such as sending alerts when employees are going to be late for service appointments, automatically distributing custom reports by email, or instructing employees on what to do next based on where they are. urther, with 200 pre-built integration templates, etrace helps businesses easily extend their enterprise applications out to their field-based employees. The service is billed by Sprint so customers enjoy the simplicity of receiving one bill from Sprint for all of their wireless services.

"Roto-Rooter has more than 1,900 technicians nationwide using etrace, and we are experiencing significant efficiencies and bottom line savings," said Steve Poppe, chief information officer for Roto-Rooter.

"For example, prior to implementing etrace, it took our technicians eight minutes on average to communicate the necessary job completion information via phone back to the office after every service call. With etrace, this step is now done automatically and it takes less than three minutes. This means our technicians are able to complete more jobs every day. In addition, prior to etrace, Roto-Rooter was forced to re-audit 31 percent of all its jobs, including changing the tax rates or the amount of the job for reconciliation purposes. We now only re-audit nine percent of our jobs."

"Sprint is focused on supporting businesses in a variety of industries to extend their workplace and manage mobile workforces to ultimately enhance productivity and control costs," said Butch Musselman, vice president of industry solutions, Sprint.

"We seek innovative partners, like Gearworks, that have substantial experience working with enterprises to integrate solutions and enable workers to conduct their job nearly anytime and anywhere. etrace 6.0 easily integrates into the enterprise and is an ideal solution for businesses in health care, transportation and retail, and field service, among other industries."

"etrace 6.0 allows enterprises to experience a whole new level of automation in managing and connecting with their mobile workers," said Doug Marinaro, vice president of marketing and business development for Gearworks. "Together with Sprint, Gearworks is committed to designing and supporting mobile business solutions that deliver rapid and substantial return on investment."

New Features in etrace 6.0
Configurable Alerts: Businesses can create and enforce policies with Gearworks' easy-to-use, rules-based alerting engine, such as: increasing employee safety by alerting supervisors when a customer visit goes too long; reducing labor costs by alerting when an employee is about to hit overtime; and improving customer satisfaction by notifying customers when an employee will be late.

Custom Reports: Supervisors are on the road and often don't have time to login to review lengthy reports. With etrace 6.0, businesses can customize reports to fit their business need, to only report on exceptions, and to schedule reports to be sent automatically to the supervisor's email.

GPS-Driven Workflow: By matching the GPS location with a database of known customers, etrace 6.0 automatically instructs employees about what to do and what information to gather, supporting the dynamic schedules typical of service employees in the home health care, field service and retail markets. Combined with automatic tracking of time spent with the customer, etrace delivers the data required to monitor and improve business metrics.

Integration-Ready: Enterprise applications for payroll, ERP, CRM, and specific industry needs can be expensive and time-consuming to integrate and maintain. etrace 6.0 is integration-ready with pre-built integration templates to 200 popular business applications including SAP, Oracle, ADP, JD Edwards, McKesson and Delta Health. With etrace, integrations are completed in days and maintained in hours.
