Tele Atlas and Dual Electronics has announced that Tele Atlas' digital maps and content will power Dual's advanced in-vehicle navigation systems.

Through the agreement, Dual's newest offering, the XDVDN8190 multimedia in-dash system, includes Tele Atlas' comprehensive digital maps and content to provide users with accurate, turn-by-turn navigation for the United States and Canada, as well as 10 million points of interest (POIs).

Dual's new 240-watt XDVDN8190 multimedia head unit offers entertainment and information capabilities that rival the most costly factory-installed systems, but at a fraction of the price. The XDVDN8190 features a generously sized 7" motorized TFT LCD monitor with powerful touch-command centers for integrated navigation, music and video playback, as well as Bluetooth connectivity for hands-free cell phone calls.

Additionally, the monitor provides a convenient, simple interface for complete iPod control, with metadata for track, title and artist information displayed on the large, bright screen.

"Today's drivers expect optimal safety and entertainment while on the road, and Tele Atlas maps help to address both - making us truly committed to delivering the richest, most accurate digital maps and content to innovative partners like Dual Electronics," said Jude McColgan, Vice President of Consumer Markets, Tele Atlas.

"We're excited to work with Dual Electronics as they help consumers make the most of their driving experiences - from finding POIs to playing their favorite songs - right from the car's 'central infotainment center' within arm's reach."

"As a company, Dual is well-aware of the need to bring the latest multimedia technologies to today's drivers in products that are at once high on value, simple to use, and most important, ultra-reliable," said Robb Groner, Vice President of Product Development, Dual Electronics Corp.

"With navigation being a crucial element of the feature set, we are thrilled to incorporate Tele Atlas' digital map content, since it is consistently of the highest quality. Looking ahead, our partnership gives us options for future innovations, from 3D maps to brand icons and more."

The internal navigation system featured in the XDVDN8190 provides all the benefits of the latest technology updates, but at a fraction of the price of similar products.

Without having to use add-on boxes or cables, consumers can access over 10 million POIs that are stored on a single 2GB SD card (included), with seamless maps of the continental United States, Canada, Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico. Directions are announced in a clear "voice," in a choice of English, Spanish, or French.

The same touchscreen that operates the navigation functions also serves as the user interface for placing or receiving calls from most Bluetooth-enabled cell phones. A built-in microphone allows for hands-free operation, and the screen conveniently shows caller ID information.
