Blue Sky Network Chosen To Track Mecca Pilgrimage Flights
La Jolla CA (SPX) Oct 14, 2009 Blue Sky Network has announced Nigerian-based Max Air selected Blue Sky Network's automated flight following and communication devices for its fleet of planes. Max Air will particularly depend on this safety equipment in late November during the Hajj, an annual Muslim pilgrimage to the Islamic Holy Land that has traditionally been plagued with travel difficulties. To ensure safe and timely air transportation for customers who wish to travel to and from Nigeria and Saudi Arabia, Max Air outfitted its Boeing 747 with Blue Sky Network's D1000C and ACH1000 devices. Running on the Iridium network, the D1000C is a satellite transceiver with a built-in GPS sensor that will provide position reporting for all of Max Air's flights. The ACH1000 provides clear communication between in-flight and ground control, offering global voice and messaging to and from the cockpit. These devices provide Max Air with near-real time GPS tracking, telemetry data link and voice connection, enabling the airline to safely complete the yearly airlift to Mecca. Built-in safety features in Blue Sky Network's equipment maintain secure and dependable travel for Max Air's passengers and crew alike. The D1000C and ACH1000 offer a quick position mayday alert button, short code and text messaging, and take-off and landing notifications, all specified and personalized for Max Air's flights. Using the speed dial or free dial features, pilots are one push button away from being in touch with ground operations. Max Air will also employ Blue Sky Network's unique SkyRouter web portal to guarantee its flights are always on track and are easily monitored from anywhere in the world with an Internet connection. "With Blue Sky's equipment on board, Max Air will be able to efficiently and effectively transport passengers during Hajj and after," said Carlton van Putten, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Blue Sky Network. "Our advanced technology will allow the crew to easily stay in touch with home base, anywhere and anytime.
